FAQ
Where does Helixos Solar service?
We are located in Sydney, NSW and our team provides energy solutions throughout all of NSW and the ACT.
How can I monitor my usage?
Solar systems installed by Helixos will come with a consumption and generation monitoring device and an associated web-based app that you can use to track your solar generation and energy consumption. This enables you to monitor when your system is producing power and can change how you use energy for the better.
What should I do if my energy needs change?
Each system installed by Helixos Solar is chosen to fit your business needs and energy consumption. If your needs change, Helixos can help you in understanding how your system might need to be altered to meet your new needs. For example, if you need a battery to cover night-time use, then we can help identify what products would satisfy this need.
What maintenance is required for my solar system?
Your solar system requires little maintenance to continue operating, but there are several things you should do regularly to maximise its performance, including:
-
Washing your panels if they get a buildup of leaves or dust.
-
Assessing your panels annually to check for cracks or damage, water ingress or discolouration.
-
Assessing the major components of your panels and system, such as the inverter and visible cabling, to check for discolouration or damage. Look thoroughly for places where water may be getting inside conduits, isolators and other enclosures.
-
Getting a licensed electrician in every couple of years to do a thorough check of all electrical connections and cabling. We advise that you don’t open your system up yourself, as this may be dangerous.
When Helixos delivers your system, we will include a full maintenance plan to keep it running smoothly. If you’d like to learn more about the maintenance programs that we offer, please get in touch.
How do I know if my roof is suitable for installation?
Many roofing materials, such as tile, tin and concrete, are suitable for solar, but it’s important to understand your roof type prior to making a decision on installing solar. The condition of your roof is very important for an installation. If your building meets Australian building codes and doesn’t have significant damage, then it’s likely that it will be able to support solar panels. If the condition of your roof is unknown, then Helixos Solar can undertake a roofing study as part of designing your system to make sure it will be structurally sound.
